Dr Saliba is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Her qualifications, MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and is awarded to medical practitioners upon graduation from university. FRACS means Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. This distinction is only awarded to specialist surgeons who have completed a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, with at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training. A Specialist Surgeon, Dr Saliba is MBBS with FRACS after her name. This means she is accredited to perform invasive cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

All surgery has risk and should be considered seriously. As with any type of surgery, complications and adverse reactions can occur. Reduce the chance of risk and complication by consulting with a Specialist  Surgeon, such as Dr Saliba, who is properly qualified and accredited to perform invasive cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr Saliba provides holistic end to end care for her patients, meaning a patient is able to stay with her from oncological surgery, through to re-construction as well as patients seeking breast surgery for cosmetic purposes. Her strong professional connections and networks also means she is able to refer to other specialists when the need arises.

Information For Your Consultation

When you arrive for your consult appointment, please bring the following:

  • Your GP referral letter
  • Any results of investigations undertaken, ie Xrays, hospital admissions etc
  • Your smile and natural warmth

Please tell us before your appointment if you require an interpretor so that you can provide details of your symptoms to the doctor, as well as understand your medical  options available

We are a private practice and charge a consult fee or follow up fee for all consultations. You will be able to claim some of this back from Medicare. Currently our fees are:

1st consult: $300

Follow Up Consult: $240

If you are a member of a private health insurance scheme, please let us know and bring your membership number with you. We will be able to advise your coverage for your potential surgery as well as the private hospital options available to you.

During your consult, Dr Saliba will ask you lots of questions about your medical history as well as your symptoms. It is incredibly important that you answer these questions honestly including ensuring she is aware of all medications you are currently, or recently, have been taking.. These questions will help form as safe as possible treatment plan for you. Please ensure you mention any blood thinning medication you are taking, or even fish oil supplements.

Public Hospitals

If you elect to be seen in the public hospital system, we cannot guarantee that Dr Saliba will perform your surgery. You may be operated on by a more junior surgeon or trainee surgeon under the supervision of Dr Saliba. You should also note that standard hospital waiting times will apply, and depend upon the severity of your case, and hospital list times

Private Hospital Options

Dr Saliba has available surgical lists at the following private hospitals:

  • St George Private Hospital
  • Campbelltown Hospital
  • Sydney South West Hospital

It is important that you fast before your operation. For all procedures, please ensure that you do not eat or drink anything at least 12 hours prior to your surgery appointment time.

On the day of your surgery, please present to the hospital on time and having fasted. Please also ensure that any pre surgical instructions have been thoroughly carried out. For instance, any additional investigations, or radiology, or hook wire placement.

WHen Dr Saliba is ready for you, you will be prepared by the nursing staff ready for your surgery. This may involve relaxant medication. You will then arrive at the anaesthetic bay and the anaesthetist and your surgeon will explain to you what will happen during the surgery. You will then be given your anaesthetic and you will fall asleep.

When you wake up from your surgery, you will feel very drowsy for some time. Your nursing team will observe you and ensure that your blood pressure, and respiratory rates are returning to normal. When you are well enough, you will be discharged home with instructions for follow up with Dr Saliba.

Wound healing: it may be tempting, but please do not touch or pick at your healing wound. Infections can occur and cause further complications. You will be given instructions on wound healing by the hospital and nursing staff and wound checked by Dr Saliba at your post operation consult in her rooms.
